Coronavirus: Prime Minister outlines EU Recovery Fund to Congress of Deputies
Written by on July 29, 2020
Prime Minister Pedro Sánchez has outlined the EU’s coronavirus recovery fund in the latest session at the Congress of Deputies.
In one of the final sessions before the summer recess, Mr Sanchez called for political unity in approving the fund, which will see grants of over €140 billion allocated for Spain.
Leader of the opposition, Pablo Casado, criticised the PSOE leader – calling the EU funds a “bailout”, whilst highlighting the sharp increases in the number of cases of the coronavirus in recent weeks.
Santiago Abascal, the leader of far-right party Vox, has said he will be calling a vote of no confidence in Pedro Sanchez in September – the vote is not expected to pass, as other opposition parties have said they see it as a distraction to the main issues.
