The regional government in the Valencian region has announced the closure of the hospitality industry and earlier closing hours for non-essential retail in an effort to reduce the spread of the coronavirus.
President of the Generalitat, Ximo Puig, made the announcement on Tuesday afternoon after holding an emergency cabinet meeting.
The new regulations call for the closure of bars and restaurants except for take away only and for non-essential retail to close at 6pm. Sporting facilities will also close during the enhanced period of restriction.
The new rules will last for at least 2 weeks, coming into effect on the 21st January.
